The Color Palette
The Color Palette in the right sidebar shows all the colors in your current design.
Palette Layout
Colors are displayed as a grid of swatches (4 columns). Each swatch shows the thread color, and if symbols are enabled, a symbol overlay appears on each swatch for reference.
Selecting a Color
Click a swatch to select it for drawing. The selected color is highlighted with a blue border and slightly enlarged. All drawing tools (Pencil, Fill, Line, etc.) will use the selected color.
Below the grid, the selected color's details are shown:
- Color name (e.g., "Black")
- Thread brand and code (e.g., "DMC 310")
- Assigned symbol (if any)
Adding Colors
To add colors to your palette, use the Thread Library. See Thread Libraries for details on browsing and adding threads.
Removing Colors
If a color is not used in your design, a small × button appears on its swatch. Click it to remove the color from the palette.
If you have Confirm Color Removal enabled in Preferences, a confirmation dialog appears before the color is removed.
Colors that are in use (have stitches on the canvas) cannot be removed — you will need to erase or swap those stitches first.
Symbol Overlays
When Show Symbols is enabled in Preferences, each swatch displays its assigned symbol. The symbol color automatically adjusts for contrast — black symbols on light colors, white symbols on dark colors.
Symbols are used for creating printable black-and-white pattern charts. See Symbols for Black-and-White Charts for details on assigning symbols.
