Here are the details and tips specific to running Stitch A Lot Studio on macOS.
Native Menu Bar
On macOS, Stitch A Lot Studio uses the native system menu bar at the top of the screen. The File, Tools, and Preferences menus appear there, following standard macOS conventions.
Installation Options
Direct Download
Download the .dmg file from stitchalot.com/software, open it, and drag the app to your Applications folder. This version includes the built-in auto-updater.
Mac App Store
Search for "Stitch A Lot Studio" in the Mac App Store and click Get. Updates are delivered through the App Store automatically.
Gatekeeper
The first time you open the direct download version, macOS may show a security prompt saying the app was downloaded from the internet. Click Open to confirm you trust the app. This only happens once.
Auto-Updater
The direct download version checks for updates on launch and notifies you when one is available. Updates are verified with Ed25519 signatures.
The App Store version updates through the App Store and does not include the built-in updater.
Keyboard Shortcuts
macOS uses Cmd (⌘) for keyboard shortcuts:
- Cmd+N, Cmd+O, Cmd+S, Cmd+Shift+S
- Cmd+Z (Undo), Cmd+Shift+Z or Cmd+Y (Redo)
Apple Silicon
Stitch A Lot Studio runs natively on both Intel and Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4, etc.) Macs.
Local Fonts
The Text tool can access all fonts installed on your Mac. They appear in the Local Fonts tab of the font browser.
Screen Color Picker
The eyedropper tool in the Color Match dialog uses the macOS native screen color picker. Note: This feature is not available in the App Store version due to sandbox restrictions.
