iPad
Here are the details and tips specific to running Stitch A Lot Studio on iPad.
Touch Gestures
The iPad version is optimized for touch input:
| Gesture | Action |
|---|---|
| Tap | Place a stitch or select a tool |
| Drag | Draw continuously or move selections |
| Two-finger drag | Pan the canvas |
| Pinch | Zoom in and out |
Apple Pencil
Apple Pencil works with all drawing tools for precise stitch placement. It is especially useful for detailed work on high-mesh-count designs. The Pencil pressure is used for reliable stroke detection.
File Management
Saving
Files are saved through the iOS document picker. You can save to:
- On My iPad — Local device storage
- iCloud Drive — Syncs across your Apple devices
- Other cloud providers — Any storage provider integrated with the Files app
Opening
Use File > Open to browse your files through the iOS file picker. Recent files appear on the Home screen for quick access.
Sharing
Use the iOS Share sheet to send files to other apps or devices. You can share both .stitchalot design files and exported PDFs.
External Keyboard
If you connect a keyboard to your iPad, all keyboard shortcuts work the same as on Mac (using the Cmd key).
Differences from Desktop
A few features work differently on iPad:
- No eyedropper — The screen color picker in the Color Match dialog is not available on iPad
- No local fonts — The Local Fonts tab is not available; use Stitch Fonts or Google Fonts instead
- File management — Uses the iOS Files app instead of a traditional file browser
- Updates — Delivered through the App Store automatically
