Syncing Your Designs

StitchALot Cloud (Alpha)

StitchALot Cloud keeps your whole design library in sync across your computers through StitchALot's own private cloud storage.

StitchALot Cloud is in alpha. It is still being tested and needs test-group access. Only subscribe or turn it on if you've been invited to the test group. To keep designs in sync across Apple devices today, use iCloud Sync.

Availability

  • Windows and Mac — In Settings, as StitchALot Cloud (alpha)…
  • iPad — Hidden from Settings for now. An iPad that already has Cloud turned on keeps syncing
  • Android — Not available

Turning It On (Test Group)

  1. Open Settings and click StitchALot Cloud (alpha)…
  2. Sign in with your StitchALot account email and password in the StitchALot Cloud window
  3. Turn on Sync library to StitchALot Cloud. You'll see the alpha notice, then a confirmation showing how many files will sync

Cloud can't be turned on while iCloud Sync is on — turn iCloud Sync off first.

How It Syncs

  • A sync runs a few seconds after each save (turn off Sync after each save to stop this) and on a timer (Check the cloud every 1 minute, 5 minutes — the default — 15 minutes, or 1 hour)
  • Sync now in the window, File > Sync to Cloud Now, or a click on the cloud badge beside the Home path bar runs a sync immediately. While a sync runs, the badge shows how many files are uploading and downloading
  • A design edited on two computers before they synced is kept as two files — the cloud copy is named "name (cloud conflict date)" and tagged on its card
  • A design deleted on one computer goes to the Recycle Bin or Trash on the others
  • If something goes wrong, the badge turns amber; click it for an explanation and a Report a problem link. Resync… compares every file with the cloud again without deleting anything
