Resizing and Layout
You can change the size and mesh count of your canvas at any time using the Canvas Layout dialog.
Opening Canvas Layout
Go to Tools > Canvas Layout to open the dialog.
Changing Canvas Size
Enter new width and height values in stitches, inches, or millimeters. The app converts between units based on your current mesh count.
Anchor Positioning
When you resize the canvas, the anchor position controls where your existing stitches stay relative to the new canvas boundaries.
The anchor is a 9-point grid (like the number pad on a keyboard):
| Left | Center | Right | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Top | Top-Left | Top-Center | Top-Right |
| Middle | Middle-Left | Center | Middle-Right |
| Bottom | Bottom-Left | Bottom-Center | Bottom-Right |
For example:
- Top-Left anchor — Your design stays in the top-left corner, and new space is added to the right and bottom
- Center anchor — Your design stays centered, and space is added evenly on all sides
- Bottom-Right anchor — Your design stays in the bottom-right corner, and new space is added to the left and top
Clipping Warning
If you make the canvas smaller, stitches that fall outside the new boundaries will be removed. The dialog shows a warning when this will happen so you can adjust before applying.
Changing Mesh Count
You can also change the mesh count from this dialog. Changing the mesh count updates the physical dimensions of your canvas without affecting the stitch count. This is useful if you decide to stitch your design on a different mesh canvas.
Applying Changes
Click Apply to resize the canvas. This action can be undone with Ctrl+Z / Cmd+Z if you change your mind.
