Software Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 18, 2026

StitchAlot Studio ("the App") is developed by StitchALot ("we", "us", "our"). The App is available for Windows, macOS, iOS / iPadOS, and Android. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your choices.

Summary

StitchAlot Studio is a pattern design tool that works primarily offline. We do not use analytics, do not track your behavior, do not show ads, and do not sell your data. The App connects to the internet only to verify your trial or license, to sign in to an optional account, to validate in-app purchases, to check for updates (direct-download versions), and to load a Google Font if you choose one.

Information We Collect

Trial & License Verification

To manage your trial and license, the App communicates with our server at stitchalot.com. The following information is sent:

  • Device identifier — a unique ID derived from your device hardware (e.g. macOS system UUID, Windows system ID) or a randomly generated UUID (iOS, Android, and sandboxed environments).
  • Device name — a human-readable device name (for example "Galaxy Tab S10 FE" or "Mike's Mac mini") so you can recognize your activated devices when managing the device limit. This may be sent when available.
  • Platform — your operating system (Windows, macOS, iOS, or Android).
  • App version — the version of StitchAlot Studio you are running.
  • License key — if you have activated a license, your license key is sent for validation.

This data is used solely to manage trial periods, activate and validate licenses, and enforce the device limit (2 devices per license).

Account (Optional)

Creating an account is optional — you can use the free trial and activate a license with a license key without one. If you choose to register or sign in to a stitchalot.com account from within the App, the App sends the following to our server over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection:

  • Email address — used to identify your account, link your license, and contact you about your account.
  • Password — used only to authenticate you. After sign-in, the App stores a session token on your device rather than your password.
  • Newsletter preference — if, during account registration, you opt in to our newsletter, we use your email address to send product updates. This is optional and you can unsubscribe at any time.

In-App Purchases

If you purchase a license through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or the Microsoft Store, the purchase is processed by that store — we never receive your payment card or billing details. To activate and link your license, the App sends the store-provided purchase token or receipt, along with your device identifier and app version, to stitchalot.com for verification. Store purchases are also subject to the privacy policy of the respective store (Apple, Google, or Microsoft).

Update Checks

For direct-download versions (not store versions), the App periodically checks for updates by sending your current app version, operating system, and CPU architecture to stitchalot.com. App Store, Google Play, and Microsoft Store versions use the native store update mechanism instead.

Google Fonts

When you use the text tool and select a Google Font, the App loads that font from Google's servers (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). This is a direct request to Google and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. Font loading only occurs when you actively select a Google Font — no requests are made otherwise.

Information Stored on Your Device

The App stores the following data locally on your device:

  • License state — your trial/license status, device ID, account session token (if signed in), and cached validation data.
  • Preferences — your app settings, recently opened files, and favorite fonts.
  • Project files — your .stitchalot design files, stored wherever you choose to save them.

This data stays on your device except as described in the sections above.

File Access

The App only accesses the design files you create or open. On Windows, macOS, and iOS it uses your Documents folder; on Android it uses the folder you grant through the system folder picker (Storage Access Framework), or its private app storage if you decline. On first launch, two demo project files are added so you have something to explore. The App does not scan unrelated folders on your device.

What We Do Not Collect

  • No analytics or usage tracking
  • No crash reporting or diagnostics
  • No advertising and no advertising identifiers
  • No location data
  • No access to your contacts, photos, camera, or microphone
  • We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes.

Service Providers

We use trusted service providers to operate the App — for example, to host our license server and to deliver account and newsletter emails. These providers process data only on our behalf and only to provide these services. Payment processing for in-app purchases is handled entirely by the Apple App Store, Google Play, or the Microsoft Store.

Offline Use

StitchAlot Studio is designed to work offline. Licensed users can use the App for up to 30 days without an internet connection, and trial users can use it offline for the duration of their trial. The App caches your license validation locally so you are not dependent on a constant connection.

Data Retention

License verification data on our server is retained while your license is active. Trial records are retained for 90 days after expiration. Account information is retained until you ask us to delete it. You can request deletion of your account or data using the contact form on our website or by emailing support@stitchalot.com.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. The App does not require an account to use; account creation is optional.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
