Export to .stitchly or .chart format

I'd love to be able to export to .stitchly format! I love designing in StitchALot as the features are way better, but the painting service I use prefers to use .stichly or .chart files.

Thank you, so glad you're enjoying designing in StitchALot! Additional export formats are in the feature requests. But, you may not need it! StitchALot already exports a 1:1 Pixel PNG (exactly one pixel per stitch, the format many painting services specifically want) and OXS (an open chart format).

Would you mind sharing which painting service you use? I'd love to reach out to them directly so StitchALot's exports work smoothly with their process, that takes the file-format headache off you.

Thanks so much for the feedback!

I work with Needlepaint!

The reason I need to get it into stitchly format is for colour matching. As they don't have a 1-1 chart for StitchALot colours (I asked), I need to import to one of those file formats to ensure that I have the correct colours for when things are printed.
From what I can tell, DMC666 may not look exactly the same if selected in MacStitch or Stitchly, which means I have no idea what it would look like when selected in StitchALot and sent to them!

Good news: you don't need to go through Stitchly (or MacStitch) for this. We work directly with NeedlePaint, and we have used them for our own personal canvases.

For sending a design to NeedlePaint, use File > Export > 1:1 PNG. That export writes exactly one pixel per stitch with flat palette colors and a transparent background for unstitched canvas, which is the format they asked us for. If you'd like a color list to go with it, the PDF export includes the full DMC legend and per-color stitch counts.

StitchALot Studio uses the standard DMC thread library, so DMC 666 in StitchALot is the same thread as DMC 666 in any other charting app. The on-screen swatch color can vary a little from app to app, but that's only how each program previews the thread. NeedlePaint prints from the thread codes and stitch layout, not from whatever shade your screen happened to show.
