I'd love to have a thread calculator that suggests how much thread I need to buy for a finished pattern.

Ooh, I love this idea and it's a really natural fit, because StitchALot already knows how many stitches of each color your pattern uses. The missing piece is turning that into "buy this many skeins," which means factoring in your fabric count, how many strands you're stitching with, and a little extra for waste.
I've added it to my feature list.
