Customizing the Grid
I would love to be able to customize the grid so that the thicker lines were by the inch or be able to set up guides. I so frequently need to understand the scale of my design and in my previous program I could set how many stitches I wanted between my thicker grid lines. Customizing the grid would be a nice enhancement.

Thanks for writing in, this is a good request, and you're right that it's a gap.
I've logged it as a feature request. A couple of notes on where things stand:
Right now the thicker grid lines are fixed at every 5 stitches in the editor.
What I'm planning:
A setting for how many stitches fall between major grid lines, applied consistently to both the editor and exports
An option to put the major lines on the inch instead, based on your canvas mesh count, which sounds like it's really what you're after for judging scale
Placeable guides are on the list too, though that's a bigger piece of work and will likely come later than the grid setting
The inch-based grid should be reasonably quick since the rulers already do the mesh-count math. No firm date yet, but the grid interval and inch mode are the near-term targets.
In the meantime: the rulers along the top and left edge can be switched to inches in Settings, which may help a bit with scale in the interim.
Appreciate you taking the time to write, this kind of detail about how you actually work is genuinely useful.
I am really enjoying using your new platform. I have been a graphic designer for 30+ years using Adobe Creative Suite and a needlepoint designer for almost 7 years. I do all my designs on a Mac and have used all the platforms out there. I really have always wanted one that I could use on both my desktop (my primary workspace) but also my iPad. There are some designs using my pencil is preferred. There are a lot of great features and functions your program has that the other do not or do kind of clunky. I have been trying it out and as I do I am just noting some keystrokes and functions that I miss about the other that I think would be great on yours.
I will keep sharing if other things come to mind. Excited adding grid settings is on your list. This would be so helpful. Just getting the first two bullets would be a game changer. I am a very visual learner and designer and seeing those thicker lines not the inches would be a game changer. It would also be nice if there was an ability to have a thin colored (maybe red or something different) to show the center axis and where they cross, but it's not critical.
The only other thing I noticed while using is on another tool I use the pencil all the time and it fills with the color selected. I often if I want to quickly correct a single stitch just hit control and the pencil automatically switches to erase or remove the stitch/color in that spot I hit. It is a nice feature rather than having to move to the toolbar and hit erase. That would be a nice add-on to the pencil.
I will keep making some notes. Thank you for your replies as well.
